BEFORE THE CONSULTATION
BEFORE THE CONSULTATION
A good start is assessing your abdomen: is there an excess skin? How is it distributed? What is the condition of your abdominal muscles?
THE CONSULTATION
THE CONSULTATION
When we meet, my main goal will be to clearly understand your expectations. Specifically, what bothers you the most, what you would like to correct and how you see yourself after surgery.
I will carefully evaluate the condition of your skin, the muscle wall, and the presence or absence of any hernias.
BEFORE THE PROCEDURE
BEFORE THE PROCEDURE
It's time to undergo blood tests and an electrocardiogram. I might also ask you for an ultrasound of the abdominal wall.
On the day of the abdominoplasty, it will be during the skin marking that you will see how much skin I will remove.
THE SURGERY
THE SURGERY
A traditional abdominoplasty procedure takes about two hours. There will be a resulting scar that runs across the lower abdomen, as well as a smaller scar inside the umbilicus.
There is an extended version known as the "Fleur de lis". And also a “softer” version called mini-abdominoplasty. You will be advised accordingly.
I don’t use drain in abdominoplasty. One of the advantages is that you will be able to get up and move around more easily and quickly from the very beginning, which is crucial to speed your recovery up.
AFTER THE PROCEDURE
AFTER THE PROCEDURE
One only instruction: walk! Right away and increasingly more each day. I will repeat this to you continuosly.
You can resume an office job after two weeks. As for sports, you can gradually start after about 8 weeks and return to full intensity after 12.
Routine postoperative follow-ups will be after 1, 2, and 4 weeks, then at 3, and 6-12 months.
